Problematic DuPont Lot Could Get Update Soon

Property owners with plans to build homes on a troublesome Roxborough lot could receive their zoning approval next week.

Andrew Mulson is scheduled to appear before the Philadelphia Zoning Adjustment Board April 17 for his property at 535 DuPont St.

In October, the Central Roxborough Civic Association , three-story, single-family dwellings.

Civic President Ed Hothman said Tuesday the group maintained support for the project.

"CRCA is OK with the project, as were the neighbors... The parking lot was a hangout for drinking and drugs, according to the neighbors," he said in an email.

The project requires zoning approval, as it redraws lot lines for the four properties. According to city documents, the homes will not exeed a height of 35 feet, won't possess cellars or basement, and will also include garage parking for one vehicle.

"The lot has been a nuisance for a long time," Patch. "This development would pretty much eliminate the problem."

Neighbors supported the proposal but wanted greenery to be included.

Mulson said in October that the homes would have small side yards and backyards. Additionally, he assured neighbors the new construction would fit in with the residential character of twin and row homes.

The zoning hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. April 17 on the 18th floor of 1515 Arch St.
