Councilman Jones presents 311 workshop Wednesday.

In the wake of Hurricane Sandy, the city's 311 service—including phone line, website and app—earned praise for its functionality and ease in use. 

On Wednesday, Philadelphia City Councilman Curtis Jones, Jr. will host a workshop at Roxborough Memorial Hospital designed to help citizens better use the city's information reporting service.

According to a release from the councilman's office, the intent of the workshop is the following:

"Councilman Jones is hosting a workshop on how to more effectively communicate with Philly311.  From time to time, our office receives complaints that they do not receive adequate responses from city departments after calling Philly 311," it said.

Supervisors from 311 will attend the Nov. 14 workshop will cover several areas, including:

  • How best to describe your complaint to 311 agents either via phone or online in order to get the best response 
  • How to use the new 311 mobile application 
  • Review Service Level Agreements and learn what they are. 

Additionally, citizens can submit service requests during the workshop. Representatives from the Department of Licenses and Inspections will also attend.

The workshop will take place Nov. 14 at the Roxborough Hospital Auditorium, 5800 Ridge Ave. at 6:30 p.m.
