Hearing Delayed for 100 Leverington Project

Councilman requested more time to review application.

Despite initial support from the Manayunk Neighborhood Council, a zoning decision for an apartment complex at 100 Leverington Ave. was pushed two weeks.

Developer Jeff Pustizzi, from Philadelphia-based 806 Capital, for a project to turn a mostly vacant building into 20 apartments. However, the Philadelphia Zoning Adjustment Board held off on a decision Jan. 18, due to concerns from neighboring condominium owners and .

Though Jones' office neglected to return two requests for comment, Pustizzi and MNC President Kevin Smith confirmed the delay.

Pustizzi said the councilman needed time to review the application. He said the attorney for the current building owner, Ron Patterson, previously talked to Jones' office. Patterson did not return a request for comment to Patch. Pustizzi's group will purchase the property if zoning is approved.

Smith said condo owners from Watermill at Manayunk, which is on the current property, were unaware of the project and attended the hearing. The zoning application requested a subdivision, which creates a new property separate from the condos.

The hearing was kept open and will be revisited Feb. 1.
