Henry Ave. Lane Closures Set for Monday Through Thursday

PennDOT to repair bridge.

Starting Monday morning, the commute down Henry Avenue in Roxborough could get a little tighter.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced right lane closures for bridge repairs on the Henry Avenue bridge between Monastery Avenue and DuPont Street from Monday through Thursday. The work will go from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the area.

Crews will work on concrete repair on the Roxborough bridge.

Stretching over the paths to Forbidden Drive and the residential road Jannette Street, the bridge is a concrete encased T-beam and concrete arch bridge, according to PennDOT. Built in 1957, the structure is 378 feet long and 68 feet wide. It carries 14,569 vehicles a day.

According to the news release, contractor J.D. Eckman, Inc. of Atglen. is the general contractor on the $2,077,371 project (on a series of bridges) that is financed with 100 percent state funds.
