Local Post Offices May Be Off Chopping Block

The Roxborough-Manayunk branches are no longer being considered for closure, an article in Philly.com stated.

Last summer the United States Postal Service announced that several Philadelphia post offices,

"Today, more than 35 percent of the Postal Service's retail revenue comes from expanded access locations such as grocery stores, drug stores, office supply stores, retail chains, self-service kiosks, ATMs and usup.com, open 24/7," Postmaster General Patrick Donahoe said in a release in July. "Our customer's habits have made it clear that they no longer require a physical post office to conduct most of their postal business."

But, according to an article on Philly.com, it seems the majority of the Philadelphia branches may be off the chopping block for now.

All but one of the 14 Philadelphia locations from the national list have been removed, the article stated, adding that the branch in 30th Street Station is the only one still being considered for closure.
