Neighbors Park Event Needs Volunteers

The Wissahickon Neighbors Civic needs volunteers to help with an event in June.

The Wissahickon Neighbors Civic Association needs volunteers to help organize an event scheduled for Saturday, June 22, in Neighbors Park.

Neighbors Park is located at the intersection of Hermit and Terrace Street, and for a long time it was an eye-sore.

That was until Councilman Curtis Jones secured a $200,000 grant to revitalize the park.

Now that the park is almost ready to open, the local civic association wants to have an event there to celebrate the end of a long journey.

Civic president Andrew Bantly said at Monday's meeting that he's more than happy to have an event, but that people need to help organize it.

There have been discussions of holding a flea market, getting food trucks and having special things for kids like a moon bounce or water features.

Bantly said that he is open to any of these things, but they all will require volunteers to help put it together.

If anyone is interested in volunteering please e-mail the Wissahickon Neighbors Civic Association at contact@e-wnca.org.
