Roxborough Population Dips Slightly

Despite city increase, Roxborough loses a few hundred residents.

Though Philadelphia increased on the whole, population dropped slightly in Roxborough and Manayunk between 2000 and 2010, according to data released Wednesday by the U.S. Census Bureau.

Analyzing census tracts within Roxborough and Manayunk zip codes, Patch determined the overall population as 38,657, down from 39,014 in 2000.

In slight increments, the Asian and African Americans populations increased in 2010, while the white population declined. Those who identified themselves culturally as Hispanic—regardless of race—also increased in the area by almost 500 people.

Throughout Philadelphia, the population rose by about 8,500 to 1,526,006. Statewide, the population increased nearly 400,000 over the past 10 years.
