SEPTA Seeking Food Donations

SEPTA teamed up with Philabundance for its annual canned food drive.

Area residents who use the  to get to and from the city will have the chance to add to area food banks through this Friday.

SEPTA and Philabundance are collecting canned foods at over 45 SEPTA stops, including stops on the Manayunk/Norristown line through June 24.

According to a release on the transportation company’s website, over 19.6 tons of food were collected in a similar food drive in 2010.

“There is still a great need for food resources and we will be asking for your help by contributing,” a statement on the website said.

Interested parties can drop off the following items at the collection barrels inside the ticket offices of Norristown and East Falls stations this week:

  • Canned or shelf-stabilized Tuna
  • Canned pasta
  • Canned beef ravioli
  • Creamy peanut butter (plastic containers only)
  • Jelly (plastic containers only)
