Speed Dating Debuts at Andorra Library

Local library hosts dating event Feb. 9.

Looking to fall in love with that special bookworm? The Free Library of Philadelphia will host a free speed-dating extravaganza throughout February in branches across the city, linking literature love nuts up.

“Whether it’s to meet a date for Valentine’s Day or a just a friend with similar taste in books, our speed dating events are a fantastic way of bringing community members together in a wonderful neighborhood resource like the library,” library director Siobhan Reardon said.

On Feb. 9, the presents the event for single men and women between the ages of 25 and 35. To loop in the literature element, participants are encouraged to bring a book they have an opinion on for an icebreaker—you can love, hate, or just have recently read it.

Also one couple at each event will win tickets to see Anne Rice, of "Vampire Chronicles," fame at the Free Library on Valentine's Day—not the worst first date ever.

The speed-dating event is free, but people must preregister. Contact info and names will only be revealed if both parties are interested in continuing the dialogue.
