State Representative's Lawyer: 'No Way' Trial Date Could Be Moved

Joseph Kelly talked to Patch yesterday.

 state representative's driving under the influence case won't be settled before a July 11 trial date, according to her lawyer.

"(There's) no way it could," attorney Joseph Kelly said Wednesday.

In saying that, Kelly effectively ruled out the idea that the case would conclude in a settlement before then.

Kelly is the lawyer for state Rep. Cherelle Parker,  after being pulled for driving the wrong way on a one-way street May 1.

Parker's case was up for a hearing in court on Wednesday in Philadelphia Municipal Court. The July 11 trial date was set then.

Pre-trial motions could be filed in the case on July 11. Paperwork will also be evaluated at that point, according to Kelly.
