“In their Names: A Remembrance and Call to Action.”

Neighborhood Partners To End Gun Violence is a coalition of faith communities in Northwest Philadelphia.  We have come together not merely to decry and condemn gun violence but to act against it.

We focus on local gunshops and the widespread practice known as straw purchasing: the illegal sale and distribution of firearms to those whose use of them destroys lives and causes immense pain.  We work with gunshop owners to comply with a code of business conduct (developed by the Mayors Against Illegal Guns) to eliminate purchases of guns for illegal resale.  If necessary, we engage in repeated demonstrations at the gun shop site to bring public pressure to bear on the owners until compliance occurs.

We are affiliated with Heeding God’s Call, a multi-faith movement to stem gun violence, and are supported by NIM.

How to Learn More and Join Us:

We will hold a rally for the faith communities, civic organizations, and citizens of Northwest Philadelphia on Sunday, February 13, from 4:00 p.m. until about 6:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Germantown (35 W. Chelten Ave.): “In their Names: A Remembrance and Call to Action.”

We will remember those whose lives have been taken by guns; we will hear from their loved ones; we will hear from speakers dedicated to the battle against gun violence; we will sing and pray; and we will present plans for taking action against illegal gun trafficking.

We hope you share our determination to resist gun violence and join us on February 13 in a public act of dedication to justice—a positive, effective way for people of faith to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
