Residents college students are graduating and receiving awards.

The Class of 2012 is ready to take on the world. Colleges throughout the area have completed their commencement exercises. So residents raised in Roxborough and Manayunk have graduated from college, received awards, or, at minimum, finished their semesters.

  • Nicole Barra earned a Bachelor of Science degree in digital communications and art and art history. She is a graduate of John W. Hallahan Catholic High School.

Marist College—Poughkeepsie, NY

  • Caitlin Louie received a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication.  

Millersville—Millersville

  • Darryl K. Miller, a senior, and Mary E. Paul, a sophomore, were named to the Dean's List for the Spring 2012 semester.

Ripon College—Ripon, WI

  • Ariel Biener, a sophomore psychology and educational studies in early childhood and middle childhood, was named to the Dean's List for the Spring 2012 semester. Biener is the daughter of Marilyn L. Shaffer.

Rosemont College—Rosemont

  • Jennifer Greenbaum earned a Master of Arts degree in counseling psychology.  

Temple University

  • Kyle Stokel competed at the National Student Steel Bridge Competition May 25 and 26 at Clemson University. Stokel is a member of Temple University's steel bridge team.

University of Rhode Island—Kingston, RI

  • Rebekah Lederer received Bachelors of Arts degrees in history and political science. She graduated cum laude.

University of the Sciences—Philadelphia

  • Christopher Kay received a Bachelor of Science degree. He will continue on a path towards a doctor of pharmacy degree with an anticipated graduation in May 2014.

University of Scranton—Scranton

  • Kaitlin Kelly received a Master of Science in curriculum and instruction from the College of Graduate and Continuing Education.

Widener University—Chester

  • Jessica Hubbert, who studied social work, was recognized as a member of the Phi Alpha National Honor Society for Social Work.

Wilkes University—Wilkes-Barre

  • Stephanie Sabol earned a Master of Science degree in education.

York College—York

  • Sean Connolly, a junior history major, has been named to the Dean's List for the Spring 2012 semester.
