Roxborough, Nutters Welcome Home Stanley Clark

High school celebrates return of Grammy-awarding winning alum.

Capping off a musical day at , Grammy-award-winning alum Stanley Clarke celebrated Tuesday night with Mayor Michael Nutter and wife, Lisa.

Clarke, a celebrated jazz bassist, spent the day at his alma matter, performing for students and working with young musicians.

On Tuesday night, Principal Stephen Brandt and RHS Alumni Association President Janet Szeligia honored Clarke, as did Mayor Nutter, students and staff. That preceded the school's spring concert, capping off a second year in the music program reignited by teacher Ronald Coles.

In addition, through Lisa Johnson Nutter's progam with the Philadelphia Academies, Roxborough students chronicled the event. Students worked with public relations firm Mary K. Dougherty and Associates to produce press materials, design programs, and will followup with a multimedia package on the event.
