Roxborough Remembers Fallen Student 1 Year Later

Playoff marks first anniversary of Rashawn Anderson's death.

Though experienced a tough basketball loss on the court, the school also paused Tuesday to remember the loss of a teammate and friend.

Rashawn Anderson his Hunting Park home Feb. 7, 2011, which was later classified as gang violence by local media. On Tuesday, friends, family and teammates paused to remember the loss of the basketball star.

At a pep rally and later at the first round Public League playoff game between Roxborough and West Philadelphia High School, the school took a moment of silence for Anderson.

Family and friends gathered at midcourt during halftime and held up Anderson's No. 12 jersey, which was draped over the Indians' bench. Fans also held up signs and wore shirts in the crowd.
