School Reform Committee to Pass Budget Tonight

The School Reform Committee is meeting May 31 at 5 p.m. at the school district administration building to pass the budget.

As required by law, the School Reform Commission will pass a balanced budget tonight, at a special meeting.

The meeting will take place at 5 p.m. at the School Administration Building, 440 N. Broad Street.

Last week, the school district  to request more money. The council hearing was followed by hours of public testimony. The district also met with SEPTA to discuss transportation options.

Tonight, the SRC will hear a presentation by the district's Chief Financial Officer, Michael Masch, according to district spokeswoman Elizabeth Childs, and then questions from the commissioners. There will also be public testimony.

"We have about 30 people signed up to speak," Childs said.

By law, the SRC is required to adopt a budget by the end of May.
