Though the Indian's struggled mightily to generate any offense in the early part of Friday's Public League matchup with the visiting Warriors, they turned things on when it counted. After entering the second half down 6-0 (the Warriors, in an inventive but ultimately unsuccessful move, went for a trick play on the PAT following their 15-yard scoring strike. The holder caught the ball then, after a mock place, flipped it over his shoulder to the kicker, who swept right and was immediately stonewalled. Score one for tradition.), the Indians handed the ball to senior halfback Tymere Blue and more-or-less let him keep it.

The rock was in good hands. Blue gained nearly every yard from scrimmage on the new half's first drive, and ultimately galloped in from 35 yards out to give the Indians—after a successful PAT from kicker DeAndre Harriot—their first lead.

The teams entered a bit of a holding pattern after the score—a pair of first downs then a turnover, on each subsequent series—before Blue, again, took over. With 3:40 left to play, the senior, after picking up a fresh set of downs on a fourth and four three plays previous, scored from six yards out to give the Indians, after a failed two-point conversion of their own, a 13-6 lead.

Boys' Latin drive to the Roxborough 45 on the final series, aided in no small part by a questionable pass interference call, but were sacked for an 11-yard loss on third and 10 before junior Isiaih King intercepted an Eric Lark pass on the next play to seal the win.

INDIAN OF THE GAME

Tymere Blue—Who else? "Black and Blue" had 220 yards, two touchdowns, and, most impressively, humility.

"Make sure you shout out my line," he said. "They opened those holes."

OTHER KEY PERFORMANCES

Josh Anderson—The late-blooming senior, as he's done all season, terrorized the opposing quarterback. Anderson spent all afternoon in the Warriors backfield, had a hand in the sack on the game's penultimate play, and forced a first half fumble.

The Offensive Line—The big, agile group struggled to protect quarterback Nick Butts, but more than made up for it with the lanes they opened up for Blue.

COACH'S TAKE

"He's a tough kid, he's got good speed, and he knows how to hit a hole," Indians coach Mike Stanley said of Blue. "He put us on his back today and carried us."

THEY SAID IT

"Soon as I got the ball and that hole opened up—I saw that hole and my heart just dropped. I said to myself 'Use that speed, use that speed you didn't have last year,'" Blue said of his 35-yard touchdown rush and his offseason improvement.

UP NEXT—The Indians take on Benjamin Franklin, at home, Sept. 23 at 3 p.m.
