Taqueria Feliz Delivers Authentic Mexican Flavor
Some friends and I make a stop at Taqueria Feliz.
I'm not a food critic or writer. I've never done that kind of thing before, and quite frankly I wouldn't know where to start.
Some friends of mine and I went to Taqueria Feliz on Main Street in Manayunk on Saturday night.
We all really enjoyed it.
Having grown up in Los Angeles, I have a soft spot for Mexican food.
Taqueria Feliz does the simple things right. A lot of Mexican restaurants overlook the simple things like tortillas and refried beans. I'm happy to report that Feliz delivered on both fronts.
My carne asada tasted like home, and I was particularly fond of my not-too-sweet margarita.
My friends also enjoyed their meals especially the guacamole (again, a simple thing that sometimes gets overlooked), the plantains and the pork tacos.
We thought it was a little pricey for Mexican food, but considering the location and the pedigree of the restaurant it was fine in the end.
Also, I also had what was essentially a Mexican hot dog. It was a hot dog topped with refried beans, chorizo (mexican sausage), smoked bacon, green salsa and sour cream. It was delicious.
My friend ordered the lamb heart skewers. I am not a particularly huge fan of heart meat, but these were pretty tasty.
