"2011 HOW properties Hc River Run" which is our 7th annual Philadelphia Hydrocephalus Awareness Run~Walk. Here is a our agenda for that day.

8:30 Flip Fitness warm-up
8:50 National Anthem- welcoming speech
9:00 Run start time
9:10 Walk start time
10:00 Awards cerimony and guess speakers which include - State Rep Pam A. Delissio, City Councilmen Curtis Jones (both confirmed) State Senator Daylin Leach, Mayor Michael Nutter (not confirm) Raul Ibanez invited and tentatively committed- but not yet confirmed.
11:30 Carmen Magro Band
Between 8:00 am and 1:00 pm we have great refreshments provided by Caplan Bagels, Marchiano's Bakery, Chubby's Cheese-steaks, Starbucks, Skinny water, Penn Distributors, Procacci Brothers Produce. Games provided by JS Productions. Swinging sounds by Circle of Sound DJ Craig Konowal. Head lining performance by Manayunk's on Carmen Magro Band. Along with face painting, raffles and other fun for the whole family!

This is the 7th annual 5K Run~ 1 Mile Walk for Hydrocephalus (Hc) Awareness in Philadelphia. The Hc River Run offers a great sports and family event aimed at honoring those affected by Hc, while growing awareness and research funding for Hc. Join us and take steps to improve life for those living with Hc!

Every step supports improving the lives for those affected by Hc (Hydrocephalus- "water on the brain")   

Imagine this…One of the country’s finest Neurosurgeons tells you… “There is nothing more we can do for your daughter.  Take her home and make the necessary arrangements.” My daughter Emma at 4 1/2 years old, was a month away from her 35th brain surgery when her doctor said those words to me.  Michaela, a 15 year old, is presently recovering from her 181st brain surgery; the only doctor willing to treat her is 2,500 miles away in CA.  These two young ladies, along with one million other Americans need a cure.  Hc can strike at any age, any race, any religion, any sex, healthy or unhealthy... anyone at any time of life.  Hc is a leading cause of dementia in adults over 50 and is found in 1 out 500 new born babies.  There are over 180 known causes of Hc, yet Hc only has one treatment opinion- surgery.  It is the leading cause for brain surgery in children within the US.  Not treating Hc is not an opinion....
