GREEN RIBBON TRAIL RACE & WALKS FOR THE WISSAHICKON

Looking for a beautiful, natural area to run? Tired of running on the same old routes? Try the Wissahickon Valley Watershed Association’s new Green Ribbon Trail Race on Sunday, October 7, sponsored by the North Wales Running Company.  This race is ideal for all levels of trail runners  - those with experience and others who are new to trail running.  The 5-mile loop course begins and ends at the Upper Gwynedd Township Park in North Wales. It is largely flat, with some single-track sections and especially beautiful in the fall. The race starts at 9:30 AM along WVWA’s Green Ribbon Trail that follows the Wissahickon Creek and returns to the park via the Natural Lands Trust’s Gwynedd Wildlife Preserve.  Fireside Bar & Grille of Ambler will host a runners brunch at the park during the award ceremony.

The Green Ribbon Trail Race joins the Walks for the Wissahickon, now in its 16th year. The guided walks offer people the opportunity to experience the Wissahickon Watershed from top to bottom. Hikers can take the Challenge Hike and walk all 21-miles of the Green Ribbon Trail to the Schuylkill River or walk the Montgomery County section to Flourtown.  Walkers can choose to walk 5 or 8 miles in the Upper Wissahickon Walk that ends at WVWA’s historic barn in Ambler. Fireside Bar & Grille is providing the walkers lunch at the WVWA Barn.
