Sunday Night Football Spotlights Roxborough's Dalessandro's

NBC shows off Roxborough cheesesteak spot for national audience.

For its national Football Night in America Sunday broadcast between the host Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants, NBC wanted to showcase a local cheesesteak joint.

And out of the hundreds of restaurants across the city, Al Michaels gave Dalessandro's a plug coming back from a commercial break during the game's second quarter.

The 25-second clip reached millions of homes across the United States and depicted the Dalessandro's staff preparing a cheesesteak and serving it up to Eagles fans.

True, the Eagles squeaked out a tense 19-17 victory over the G-men Sunday, but the Roxborough business proved to be the true winner. In sharing the Sunday Night Football video on its Facebook page, Dalessandro's received testimonials from fans near and far to Henry Avenue and Wendover Street.

"I grew up on Dalessandro's steaks. I have since moved to NYC. Last month, my son said he wanted a cheesesteak. We drove all the way to Phila to have one of yours. Last night we were watching the game, rooting for the Eagles of course, and saw your spot. We both cheered!!" Jordy Rabinowitz wrote.

Greg Miller said: "That was my moment of the night... I marked out because I've been saying your steaks are the best in Philly for years!"

On the Roxborough-Manayunk Patch Facebook page, people expressed similar enthusiasm. Donna Finn said her son in Florida caught the video.

"Dalessandro's Steaks, the official Steak of the Philadelphia E-A-G-L-E-S," John Stein said.
