Saving Public Property

The Public Parking Lot at 147 Gay street was a topic of interest at last nights Manayunk Council Meeting at Cotton and Main Streets.

Standing room only with an element of intrigue filling the room. A representative asking to talk "off the record" was the caveat of the night for me. What was said? Should have been there.

In preparation for the Manayunk Council Meeting I have found a Document of interest and share with you now what I shared at the meeting.

The Board of Directors of "PAID" released the Agenda for the Feb. 25th meeting. Consider and approve the following resolutions:

A. Submit RACP Grant applications on behalf of the Lutheran Theological Seminary and the Philadelphia Zoo.

B. Acquire the City-owned property at 147 Gay Street for sale to Nineteenth Street Development, LLC

C. Take title to the City owned building at 1801 Vine Street and execute a Sales and Development Agreement.

The Philadelphia Authority for Industrial Development (PAID), from what I can only speculate, having very little impact on the public at large is Fast tracked to facilitate the on going Development of Industrial Property.

The Lot at 147 Gay Street, so stated on the Tax records is listed under the Department of Public Property. The Lot listed as Public Property has been a parking Lot for the community for over 30+ years. The LLC has renderings for four town houses showing the elements of a residential nature.

How did a Publicly owned property used for over 30 years allegedly get "Fast Tracked" to an LLC with no consideration for the impact on the quality of life of the community at large? Can Someone with an element of authority explain this to the Residence's of Gay street? To the Public at Large.
