Fountain Street Neighbors Scrub Their Parking Lot

Annual cleanup avoids parking headaches.

Neighbors from the Fountain Street area and members of the in Roxborough exerted some elbow grease Saturday, and found some snakes in the process.

For the past two years, the church has undertook the task of cleaning up the municipal parking lot on Fountain Street as part of a community project.

Organizer Donna Kennedy said the city built the lot 10 years ago, but the Ridge Park Civic Association must maintain it.

On Saturday, volunteers removed debris, cut down trees, cleared overgrowth and posted two "Clean-Up After Your Dog" signs.

"The kids also found three garden snakes and they were thrilled," Kennedy said.
