Week Ahead: Road Closed, Go for a Hike

Here's everything you need to know for this upcoming week.

Vacation Bible School: Ridge Avenue United Methodist will host a vacation bible school all week.  The program meets every weeknight from 6-8:45 p.m. Click here for more information or to register.

Cresson Street Closed: Cresson Street in Manayunk will close on Monday and remain closed until January.  Click here for more information.

Concert at the Grape Room: The band Empire Circus will perform at The Grape Room on Wednesday at 8 p.m.  Here's how the band describes itself: "Empire Circus are a four piece Alt Pop outfit who have tapped into the panache of Two Door Cinema Club, the demeanour of Arcade Fire and the general cool suave of Gorillaz… then morphed out at the other side with a resonant sound under the guise of Empire Circus. "  Click here to listen to some of their music. 

Hike: Go for a hike with Friends of the Wissahickon trail ambassador Bruce Wagner on Saturday, Aug. 17 at 9:30 a.m.  Here's how organizers describe it: "The east ridge above the Wissahickon (Chestnut Hill side) and the west ridge (Roxborough side) top surprisingly different forests. This will be a 3.5 mile stroll reaching both ridge tops and enjoying how different the terrain is and how different Wissahickon Creek looks from either side. We will take a leisurely pace, and our paths are sometimes rocky trails up and down hills, but not terribly arduous. Children, accompanied by a responsible adult, are welcome so long as they can manage themselves, the trails, the hills, and needs of other walkers. Wear sturdy boots or shoes. Dress for the weather. Bring at least one liter of water. Meet at The Cedars House at the upper end of Forbidden Drive and Northwestern Ave."
