Here's what's going on this weekend in the Roxborough-Manayunk Area.

Tomato Trot

Where/When: Saturday, September 28, 4:30 p.m. 102 Rector Street, Manayunk PA (The Couch Tomato Cafe' & The Tomato Bistro)

Why Go: The Couch Tomato Cafe' & The Tomato Bistro is hosting its second annual 5k charity trail run on Saturday 9/28 with a 4:30 race start time (registration begins at 2:30pm).   This fun-run (or walk) is called "Manayunk Tomato Trot" and will be held in Manayunk (PA) behind Main Street, along the river.  For more details, to to: http://www.TomatoTrot.com.
Proceeds are being donated to LUNGevity and several hundred runners will be participating.  The idea was created by owners Craig Mosmen & Michael Cassano, as a means of bringing awareness to the battle against lung cancer which sadly took the life of my father (Arnold F. Mosmen, Jr.).  The intention is also to establish this newly formed annual tradition in memory of him.

Pricing: To register for the 1st annual Manayunk Tomato Trot, you may register online at www.TomatoTrot.com, OR arrive at 102 Rector St. Phila PA 19127 by 2:30pm to sign up.  The registration fee is $30 on race day at the registration table.  All registrants will receive a microchip, T-shirt, runner's bib, and packet of menu vouchers starting at 2:30pm on race day.

Why Go: The Friends of the Wissahickon (FOW) and AIM Academy of Conshohocken invite volunteers to work with them in cleaning the Wissahickon Creek as part of National Public Lands Day on Saturday, September 28, 2013. Volunteers will be removing debris from Wissahickon Creek from 9 am to 1 pm. Meet at the Valley Green parking lot in Wissahickon Valley Park. Parking is very limited at Valley Green, so FOW recommends carpooling, hiking, or biking to this event.
