Sad beyond belief. I see this man who was so consumed with guilt and think about these horrificRead More killers shooting people on sprees with zero remorse. What a shame he chose to believe he did not deserve to live, but he must have been one heck of a nice man to be so overwhelmed with what he believes he might have prevented. Condolences to the families, all of them.
ROBIN BANICKI June 15, 2013 at 12:43 pm
This man was a good man and his family doesn't deserve to live with this stigma. Shame on the CityRead More for not stepping up and accepting blame where it lies, at the feet of the city officials. My thought and prayer are with the family. May God keep you in his graces and find peace in who this man truly was.
Shirley June 15, 2013 at 07:49 pm
If in fact the video had the words "I should've looked at the guys working on theRead More building," then the beginning would not have been "It wasn't my fault" but in fact, "It was my fault." So which is it, Politicians? If it wasn't his fault, why did he feel guilty about it? Which one of your b-terds told him to fudge the report?
HumanityB. June 15, 2013 at 03:35 am
Actually, a gun to the chest/heart makes sense. In the mouth or head and there is still the chanceRead More of surviving with brain damage, blindness, etc. If you directly shoot your heart you will die within in seconds, and if you don't feel like you're dying, you can shoot yourself again. You can't do that if it's the head. Police will investigate and do gun powder tests, see if there was a note, etc. My heart breaks for him and all lives lost. Thinking I was responsible for the death of one person would be excruciating; 6, unbearable.
HumanityB. June 15, 2013 at 03:36 am
I was writing the same thing as you were writing.
Dee in New Hampshire June 15, 2013 at 08:49 am
Right on the mark, HumanityB. I'd have a hard time living with myself, too. This situation must beRead More so difficult for every family involved. They are all in my thoughts & prayers and have my deepest sympathy.

Debbie, learn how to spell Lexus.
Thomas Elliott June 13, 2013 at 08:20 pm
Sounds a little racial, R. Did you mean for it to come across that way? Or were you talking aboutRead More the perps' height/weight/tattoos, etc.?
j June 15, 2013 at 03:03 pm
How about age, tattoos, piercings, hair cut/color?! Why does everyone have to throw the freakingRead More race card out there ALL THE TIME!!!!! I Didn't see anything racist in r's comment! The minorities are always the ones assuming ppl are being racist. Watch the news ppl! Who commits the majority of crimes???? Sometimes the truth hurts huh?!
Obama Remorse June 17, 2013 at 01:34 pm
I bet there are at least 6 people who wish the excavator operator in Philly who smoked a bluntRead More before knocking down that building wished he would have been arrested for smoking pot... yeah, we need more of that...
Ed Roper June 17, 2013 at 03:27 pm
I totally agree. After all, we have laws against people drinking on the job as well, and as we knowRead More nobody ever does that and breaks those laws. Those silly pot heads though...
Obama Remorse June 17, 2013 at 08:16 pm
So we need even more methods for them to get wasted...
Brownhound June 9, 2013 at 04:00 pm
its a horrible tragedy. the demo crew, and building owner had a direct business relationship.Read More Nothing is wrong with that sort of arrangement until sghortcuts are taken and risk of injury increases. The sick irony is I believe the companies are llc's . Meaning they just declare bankruptcy and the families wont see a dime of restitution. The owners of the companies will point fingers at each other and make extremely difficult to unravel who is at fault. The crane operator is not patient zero here. He is low man on the totem pole. The best angle in my opinion..... Since the owner is out of state in ny i believe... let the feds take over and if any phone calls or mail correspondence is available make it a rico case and put em all in jail.
Bill June 9, 2013 at 09:32 pm
Agreed, politicians convicting before an investigation. Just look at the Travon Martin case.
andthatsthetruth June 11, 2013 at 12:32 pm
I don't believe that when a potential client goes to a lawyers office for representation that theyRead More are "bedfellows". Any lawyer is suppose to protect their client when they are hired. Lawyers don't pass up work.
J. June 6, 2013 at 01:58 pm
A good job by both neighbors and Police. What is the woman's name who was arrested? Why is the nameRead More of the thief not in the article by Patch? Why is her name being withheld. Is her name name top secret?
MovedHere June 7, 2013 at 04:50 pm
Because there is a large black market to resell pacemakers.
Roxborough Area Man June 4, 2013 at 09:14 pm
Crooked Philadelphia cops? And people wonder why there is so little trust in them...abuse ofRead More power, both serious and minor, are rampant and so blatant as to insult the law-abiding citizenry. This may be the pinnacle, but it is supported by a mountain of supporting evidence damning the force for their disregard for the normal law and order we abide by.
South Philly guy June 5, 2013 at 03:51 am
Not only did they robbed people, they also shot people while they where running away from them.Read More Question is it ok for Garcia to shot someone in the back? And never be Charged? Where is the Justice in philadelphia...!!!!!
James of Reality Relm June 5, 2013 at 05:08 pm
Really!!! They shot people in the back? I must have missed that in the article or you're recitingRead More the voices in your head.
Phillycop June 4, 2013 at 12:46 pm
"and a prescription for Klonopin?" Interesting that were able to steal all this at 7:30Read More PM on a busy stretch of Ridge Avenue (near the Pep Boys and Friendly's) point of gun. Not saying it didn't happen but interesting. "Scripts" get stolen in Kensington all the time. "K-Pin" is similar to Xanax
Sarsa Parilla June 4, 2013 at 01:43 pm
Guy made it up so he could get more pills. Doctors will make you show them the police report if youRead More claim your controlled substances were stolen.

How about more patrols ! I work from home and have only seen one cop drive by the area of dexter andRead More Fleming in the last month - and you have to love that the guys at the corner have a lookout riding and sitting on bikes in the middle of the street - pick it up year round district 5 !!!! Not just for bike race for over 100 cops chilling at every corner instead of doing loops in the neighborhood. !

"Police valued the taken items at $14,800". I think her insurance company should ask forRead More receipts. If a person can afford to buy jewelry amounting to that much money they can afford to live in a better place. Just an observation...
Debbie Thomas May 28, 2013 at 01:55 pm
No offense intended but this sounds like something a neighborhood resident would do.
Jim Dea May 28, 2013 at 04:18 pm
If there is one institution that is NOT in Roxborugh, it is St John the Baptist, MANAYUNK! Get aRead More map.

Were the trees in large pots, or planted in the ground? What type of trees were they?
FrankieG May 24, 2013 at 11:22 pm
Kevin: The "misinformed image" is in your head fool. You're the one imposing yourRead More preconceived images on others with no evidence. Anyway, this is probably all drug related anyway. It sounds like classic case of someone owing a dealer money or someone shaking down low-level dealer. They were probably selling dope out of the house or something and somebody wanted in on the cash without doing the work.
Fiona May 26, 2013 at 04:56 am
Well, after all the political correctness/in correctness that has been voiced here, I personallyRead More hope that the husband/wife are ok and have plenty of care and support after a horrific home invasion and that the relevant governing bodies are focusing on the facts and not the fiction to apprehend whoever did this, regardless of colour (yes I spell it with a U) or age, creed, religion etc etc etc etc, god bless that family, may they sleep in peace, along with all their family, neighbours and anyone else who is scared after this event.
J.D.H. May 26, 2013 at 02:17 pm
What happened to this important and very specific detail of the original story in Newsworks?Read More "The suspects then took miscellaneous jewelry and a Glock handgun, an M4 Bushmaster rifle, and a Mossberg shotgun, totaling $7,200 in value." The people that went into this house knew exactly what they were looking for. How they knew this information is a good question to ask.

"Drug Dealers Attack Man" "In the process of the fight, the three attackers stole theRead More man’s wallet and glasses, police said" I'm sure the victim feels much better just knowing that he lives in the safest area of the City which has the lowest amount of reported crime in Philadelphia. They say if a criminal is arrested for committing one crime that the chances are that criminal committed at least ten other crimes that the criminal got away with. Good post by Phillycop on the below site: They say: "Truth is stranger then fiction" They also say: "People get the government they deserve" http://www.policeone.com/legal/articles/1966072-Lawsuit-shines-spotlight-on-Philly-police-foot-pursuits/
Mike June 1, 2013 at 08:10 pm
Great work by Police in arresting suspects. Job well done.
J. May 23, 2013 at 11:29 pm
I guess a crime victim who gets robbed or burglarized in the 5th District will feel good and veryRead More lucky knowing that he lives in the safest District in the City. I imagine there is a spot on the map called the safest Police District to live in the Country of Afghanistan. With all those burglaries I don't know how safe it is in Andorra.
MAP May 24, 2013 at 11:31 pm
I've lived in Andorra my whole life (24 years old) and today I was out walking and noticed aRead More shady-looking car with a couple of guys inside. A few blocks later the car pulled up and it was a couple of undercover officers who thought that I was the shady one. Gave me a scare at first but glad they're out there. It has been rare to see a cruiser patrolling over the years and I admit, I really thought of this neighborhood as totally safe.
MovedHere May 31, 2013 at 05:35 pm
Does anyone have any tips or best ways in who / how we could contact the city to request moreRead More support during this time or get more frequent updates? I am a newer resident to the area. Considering moving... not because I think I am "above" anyone - but I don't see how if I could afford to - I should stick around and raise children here versus paying a little premium elsewhere. Roxborough is getting more of us YUPPIES right when we are settling down and then you are losing us as soon as our children come or are of a certain age. We care about safety, schools, community. Safety and schools are very questionable in this area.
Dennis McGuinn May 20, 2013 at 03:11 pm
Retailers should be held responsible when they accept credit purchases from someone who obviouslyRead More doesn't match the the name on the card. Here it is a male with a wonan's card, no id check. There should be a requirement that credit card companies are required to print the photo of the cardholder on the credit card. All consumers pay the price for the billions in fraudulent charges made each year.
bethann baeringer May 20, 2013 at 06:07 pm
What this guy is doing is, he has a device called a skimmer, what that does is store credit cardRead More info or debit card info and then he makes duplicate cards with his own name on them so if the retailers were to ask for ID then he would be ok anyway, I am one of many of this guys victims, he will get caught its only a matter of time before he makes a mistake!
JamesIgnatius May 18, 2013 at 01:57 pm
WTF - I am a legal gun owner & former Marine and I find it absolutely inexcusably to stow loadedRead More weapons (with chambered rounds) in your home, whether you live alone or not - it takes merely one second to insert the magazine and chamber a round. It may be legal - but it's stupid.
Rock Star May 18, 2013 at 03:23 pm
The fact you're a former marine or legal gun owner gives your opinion no more merit than the turd myRead More dog just dropped in my living room. What allows you to judge the intelligence of leaving a chambered round in a loaded gun in ones own home? It's not going to spontaneously explode and cause danger to anyone. I judge you s stupid. I guarantee one second has saved many lives. As a former marine, you should know that, had you saw any action.
Debbie Thomas May 17, 2013 at 12:13 pm
Why? If the crackheads are breaking into his home, MikeP has every right to shoot them.
lexrex May 17, 2013 at 01:22 pm
The fact is that you expose yourself to civil liability and criminal charges whenever you use forceRead More against an intruder. I am not suggesting that this is right. I am asserting that this is the way it is. Pennsylvania does not have a "Make My Day" like like Delaware and Colorado. In those states the legal premise is that an intruder in your home is, by definition, willing to do you grave bodily harm; ergo, you can use deadly force. A man in Montgomery County was convicted of manslaughter because he shot and killed his huge, naked, drug-crazed neighbor as he smashed through his plate glass doors. The problem was that the coroner ruled that he shot him at least once while he was on the ground. In such situations the police are not your friends. They will just as soon arrest a homeowner for homicide as an intruder for burglary.
Kevin May 18, 2013 at 02:24 pm
Wrong Debbie. It's not that simple. Educate yourself on the laws regarding the use of deadly forceRead More in PA before asserting such a ignorant claim
