Serving children with learning disabilities, the Academy in Manayunk follows the rigorous curriculum established by TheMore Lab School of Washington. In addition to standard academics, the academy incorporates visual and performing arts for its students. The school is affiliated with many area universities and implements research-to-practice approaches in educating those with learning disabilities. The Lower School, for grades 1-5, offers a mostly 1:6 teacher-to-student environment for reading, writing and math. Divided into two age groups and separated into smaller teams, students learn graphic arts, music, dance, sciences, U.S. geography, writers workshop and health/physical education in addition to the core curriculum.

Located in the former St. John the Baptist High School for Girls, the Upper School encompasses both middle and high school students. For middle school students, the curriculum includes reading, math, writing, science and social studies with enrichment experiences in cooking and team building. For high school students, The Academy of Manayunk delves into specific subject areas for social studies, english, science and math. Traditional team-based sports are offered as well as various electives.
