Free Fall Workshops Set for Roxborough Homeowners

Preservation Alliance and Roxborough Development Corporation present more training sessions.

Owning an historic home comes with both charm and chores to preserve the challenging character antiquity provides. Roxborough's homeowners will get an opportunity to learn some tips on how to keep those homes looking new. The Roxborough Development Corporation partners with the Preservation Alliance to offer free homeowner workshops this fall, geared toward historic properties. "We are glad to welcome back the Historic Preservation Workshops to Roxborough after a successful first series last April," Executive Director Bernard Guet said. The Story Behind Philly School Buildings

Hidden City shares the architectural background for public schools.

The look for many school buildings within the School District of Philadelphia is strikingly similar look. Sure each school possesses its own individuality, but the size, shape and feel to many buildings contain familiar patterns. In a recent article, Hidden City Philadelphia outlines how Irwin T. Catharine standardized the designs for nearly all school constructions in the period prior to World War I.
