Two loaded handguns are reported stolen.
A man reported two guns missing from his apartment to police on May 5, police said. The man lives on Wendover Street, and he told police he was having a dispute with his landlord so he left on April 20, to stay with his girlfriend. When he returned to his apartment a black nine-millimeter glock and a black 380 automatic were missing from his closet. Both weapons were loaded and had a round in the chamber, police said.

A burglar stole seven watches from an apartment on Lyceum Avenue.
A burglar stole one laptop and seven wristwatches from an apartment located in the 300 block of Lyceum Avenue on April 25, police said. On April 25, between 1:30 p.m. and 8 p.m., police said that a burglar entered the apartment and took the listed items. Police were unsure of how the burglar gained access to the apartment, as there was no sign of forced entry. Police value the stolen items at $3,000.

$3,600 worth of stuff is stolen from a home on Parker Avenue.
More than $3,600 worth of items was stolen from a home in the 100 block Parker Avenue on May 3, police said. Sometime on May 3, between 11 a.m. and 2:50 p.m., an someone threw a brick through the rear kitchen window of the home, police said. Three people live in the home, and various items were taken from the premises including two iPads, a laptop several cable boxes and a watch. Police valued the stolen items at $3,600.

A diamond ring is stolen from a home on Cathedral Road.
A burglar stole a diamond ring valued at $3,000 from a home in the 800 block of Cathedral Rd. on April 24. The complainant told police that someone broke a glass windowpane in the rear kitchen door, reached through the broken pane and unlocked the door. The diamond ring was stolen from a jewelry box in a second floor bedroom, police said, but nothing else was reported missing.
A woman is attacked on her front steps.
A man attacked a woman, choking her and pouring beer on her, before he grabbed her purse and ran off. A woman was sitting on her front steps in the 100 block of Conarroe Street at around 12:40 a.m. on May 3, when a man grabbed her by the throat, police said. The man then pulled her hair and poured beer on her before he grabbed her purse and ran away, police said. The purse contained several items including credit cards and identification, police said. No injuries were reported.

Several jewelry boxes are raided in a Roxborough home.
Burglars took more than $10,000 in jewelry from a home in the 800 block of Iverness Lane on April 24. The owner of the home told police that while she was out on April 24 between 4 p.m. and 10 p.m. someone cut the screen of an unlocked second floor window. The burglars then moved from room to room, police said, raiding the home’s several jewelry boxes. The owner of the home also told police that when the she returned home, the front door was open. Burglars took numerous pieces of jewelry that police estimated to be valued at $10,000.
A man's iPad is taken after he forgets it in his shopping cart.
Surveillance footage captured an employee at SuperFresh taking a customer’s iPad on April 29, police said. A man was shopping at the SuperFresh located at 7162 Ridge Ave., when he left his iPad in a shopping cart, police said. The man asked the cart boy if he’d seen it, and police said that the cart boy responded “no.” Store surveillance video later showed that the cart boy was in possession of the iPad, police said.
Burglars smash a car window and steal a laptop.
Thieves smashed a car window and stole over $1,400 worth of items from a car parked in the 5200 block of Hermit Lane on April 18. The owner of the vehicle parked the car and then went jogging, police said. While the man jogged, thieves smashed the right rear window of his 2002 Hyundai and took several items from the vehicle. The stolen items included a bag containing a MacBook Pro laptop, a bible and an external hard drive.

Burglars make off with $20,000 in copper piping.
The owner of a property located in the 6000 block of Ridge Avenue reported to police that more than $20,000 in copper piping has been stolen from the premises. The owner told police that between 3 p.m. on April 15 and 9 a.m. on April 17 the rear door of the vacant property was forced open and sections of piping were removed from various rooms in the building. A secretary notices smoke coming from a second-floor bathroom.
A fire started in the bathroom of a school located in the 200 block of Spring Lane has been ruled an arson by the fire marshal. The school’s secretary called 911 after she saw smoke coming from a second floor girl’s bathroom, police say. A custodian at the school extinguished the fire before officials arrived on the scene. The fire itself had been started in a 30-gallon trashcan, police said, and no injuries were reported. There were no witnesses or cameras in the area.
