Edward Fitzgerald Martin, Sr. died Nov. 19. His daughter, Roseanne Westerfer, shared news of the long-time resident's passing. "My dad was was a graduate of St. John the Baptist Boys' High School, and he and my mom Barbara were married 52 years," she said. "He was loved by his family, well known in his lifelong parish, St. John the Baptist, and served as an usher at Sunday Mass. He was 75 years old." According to Martin's obituary, he is survived by wife, Barbara, and his children Joanne DeLuca, Westerfer, Edward Jr., Michael, Joseph, and Kevin Martin. He has nine grandchildren. A funeral mass was held at the St. John the Baptist Nov. 24.

My name is Janet Kempf and I have been a member of St. John the Baptist parish since 2001. I am also a member of St. John's Finance Council. I moved here 16 years ago from Chicago and love living in this neighborhood. I have met many good people here who come from all of the Roxborough-Manayunk parishes. I was welcomed by everyone since my first day here, and I have made friends that I will have for the rest of my life.
