Barry's Steaks Burglar Caught, Police Say

Police say the man broke into several businesses in the past few weeks.

Philadelphia police have charged 23-year-old Roxborough resident Michael Giordano with multiple accounts of burglary after police say he broke into several area businesses from Feb. 8-26. Police say that Giordano broke into Barry's Steaks before 7:10 a.m. on Feb. 26, but nothing was stolen. Giordano also broke into Dream House Asian Bistro, police say, the morning of Feb. 8 where he stole blank checks, $20 in loose change and a pack of cigarettes. According to police, Giordano entered the businesses in both cases by smashing exterior and interior glass. Police also believe that Giordano is responsible for four other burglaries in the 6000 block of Ridge Avenue. To read the original Barry's Steaks article please click here.

Barry's Steaks Broken Into

'The only thing is that we have some broken glass, and we have to open late,' according to the woman who runs the Roxborough restaurant.

Barry's Steaks opened for business late on Tuesday after the restaurant was broken into late Monday night or early Tuesday morning. According to Wendy McGuinn who runs the Roxborough restaurant on Leverington Ave. with her husband Barry, nothing was stolen. "We don't leave anything here overnight," McGuinn said.  "The only thing is that we have some broken glass, and we have to open late." McGuinn said that police have already apprehended the culprit. "Now we just need to focus on getting open so we can make some money," McGuinn said. As of 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Barry's had not reopened.  McGuinn says she expects the restaurant to reopen in the next 90 minutes.
