ReplyI'd like to know what's up with all of the burglaries that are reported almost daily for the Andorra, Manayunk and Roxbourough areas. It makes me feel unsafe. Where are the patrols at night and how can we start reducing these crimes?

ReplyA minor is a minor. But it doesn't say that she said no or stop. It says he asked her, but doesn't say what her reply was. This report is missing information, but sex with a minor is illegal regardless.

ReplyI agree with John to some extent. People are missing the fact that there are already good store fronts and bad store fronts on Ridge which give it a mixed vibe. The developers do need to make money off of the property, this is there business and it is not a cheap business. The owners consulting the community shows that they do care and instead of berating them for demolishing the property we should be supporting them and offering them good positive input. "Kidsfirst" has the best idea yet by putting something there that offers local artists, musicians and specialists a place to operate from and offer valued classes or services to the community which will help it grow in the most positive way possible.... With education and art. To those of you who suggest another grocery store... Why would that make sense when there's already an Acme, Shoprite and a Super Fresh here??

ReplyNews flash! It's not the type of restaurant that promotes a hang out for "gangs of kids," it's the neighborhood that does that. No one seems so concerned with all of the break-ins, thefts & armed robberies that happen on a daily basis in Manayunk and Roxborough, they're worried about a Wendy's.... and what THAT will do to the community!?!

ReplyHow can we help keep our neighborhood safe if we never see a photo of the perp? This is 2 blocks from my house and I can't help if I don't know who I'm looking for. Maybe Patch should consider posting the suspect's photo and not a picture of a police car.

ReplyIt doesn't matter what color the culprit is. A criminal is a criminal and the community should be disclosed a full description no matter if the person is white, black, brown or purple! The officials trying to be "PC" is ridiculous. They're the ones that make race an issue when it's a matter of public safety and awareness.

I agree with the cops being less proactive here. Last summer 7 cars were broken into and everyone had to file seperate reports. The officer never got out of his car to inspect the vehicles, but instead sat inside filling out the reports and smoking cigarettes while littering the butts out his car window into the private parking lot.
...In addition I will mention that we hear about robberies and break-ins on a regular basis, even on Main St and Ridge Ave, which are obviously highly populated main roads, that never seem to be observed by any patrols. Maybe this crime came to head with a patrolling officer, but it is a rare case in our area.
