Farmers Market

Where/When: Saturday, June 29, 2013, 10 a.m., Pretzel Park,  4300 Silverwood St., Philadelphia

Why Go: Weekly, the Manayunk-Roxborough Food Co-op will present a community farmers market at Manayunk's Pretzel Park.

Continuing through the summer, Pretzel Park will host vendors every Saturday, weekly from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Fresh produce, meats, baked goods and other delicacies will be available.

Why Go: In this workshop, participants will learn how to plant and grow blueberries and strawberries - both in a container (perfect for urban dwellers), as well as in a backyard berry patch.  They'll teach you about each berry's perfect growing conditions (sun, space, soil), pruning, and cultivation, as well as review what makes our native berry varieties so special.

Pricing:  $35 / adult - includes native blueberry bush, strawberry plant, planting bucket, dirt and demonstration $15 / child - includes strawberry plant, dirt, and planting bucket.  Click here to register.

Wellness Walk

Where/When: Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education, 8480 Hagys Mill Rd, Philadelphia, Saturday, June 29, 2013, 2 p.m.

Why Go: Trade the sweaty gym for some open skies, fresh air and friendly company, with an invigorating walk in our beautiful woods and meadows. The walks will be led at a moderate pace, along one of the center's wider, more level trails.
